Please support our series and get exclusive/behind the scenes content at / chrisegerband Episode 148: ln 1972, the power trio known as Grand Funk Railroad became a quartet. Fellow Flint, MI native, Craig Frost, added a new element to the band's live shows, filling out the rhythm section and bringing his exceptional keyboard soloing chops to the mix. The material, as always with GFR, was a vehicle for their live performances, now with Frost's tasteful Hammond organ, Hohner Clavinet, and Wurlitzer piano work. "The Railroad" is a "working man's" anthem, exuding the strain and strength required for such manual labor. Mark Farner's powerful vocals soar over the top of the plodding, chain-gang-like beat, as played by Don Brewer and Mel Schacher. OTW is engineered and mixed by Richard Williams @ Plum Tree Recording Studio. One Take Weekly aims to present a sneak peek inside a studio recording session, each track performed and filmed in one take - imperfections & all. No overdubs, NO AUTOTUNE, and no trick-photography! (Just good mixing...& my nearly inept video editing skills) What you see is what you hear - CE.
