This is a VERY vintage “student” model Magnatone or “MEC” combo amp. It is covered in this amazing alligator faux leather material, and it has the original handle. It is smaller than a Fender Champ, and it contains the original 8” (or maybe it is even a 6”) AlNiCo speaker. This has an octal style preamp tube (I believe it is a 6SL7), a 5Y3 rectifier, and a 6V6 power tube. There is only one chicken-head style volume knob on the back (which also functions as the on/off switch), and there are no other features or controls. You just crank this beast up and use your guitar volume control to adjust the amount of gain it puts out. This would make an ideal recording amp or even a killer live rig if you have a good sound guy to mic it up. I love small, low-wattage tube amps, and this is one of the best I’ve heard.
