This isn't just any Hughes 500P. Snohomish County has its hands on one of the most unique helicopters flying in civilian hands today, having served an exciting previous life with the United States Army, and later, the CIA. This helicopter, which Snohomish County Sheriff's office affectionately refers to as "SnoHawk 1" started life as any other LOH-6 for the Army. It had a couple of accidents in Vietnam before returning to the United States. Once back, it was transformed into an NOH-6P - P for Penetrator. It was heavily modified (some of which remain on this aircraft today) to be extremely quiet and was sent back to Vietnam. Once there, this ultra-quiet aircraft flew covert special operations teams into North Vietnam to perform wire taps, and then bring the teams back. Four aircraft were modified and this is the only one still around today.
