Although the trip across Florida Bay is relatively short (about 30 miles+-) it ended up taking us 18 hours to cross. The winds that were supposed to mellow out as the evening went on, in fact stayed strong until the morning kicking up some serious wave action and creating a situation that we are unable to progress forward through for a few hours. The temperatures dropped into the 40's and we had hunker down behind the mangroves and break out our hypothermia kits to stay warm, and we had to make an audible call in our projected route to make it to the finish safely. It was a crazy way to spend the last night of the Everglades Challenge and a reminder that it's not over until it's over :) enjoy the video :) oh and we got see Elon Musk's space X starship rocket explode on it's failed launch. we thought that maybe the ISS was crashing back to earth, with no Internet we could only speculate as to what we were witnessing and all we knew was that it was huge and it was crashing to earth
