New DVD rot behavior (from Warner, of course)

Been going through ALL my DVDs (all 7000-something of them!) and checking any dual-layer discs manufactured by Warner, as many of them have famously succumbed to disc rot. Usually the second layer is simply unreadable and playback will freeze at that point. I mainly use DVDShrink on my computer as it scans through an entire disc in about 2 minutes without having to watch the entire thing (and having the movie ruined by crashing in the middle). This is “Dreamcatcher” which I got a long time ago but never watched. This one is weird because the program scanned through all of it with no errors, but the picture froze at the end of the first layer. Playing on my Oppo UDP-203, here’s what happens- the picture freezes and sound continues but skipping through it at about two times the speed. Selecting the deleted scenes from the menu, the sound for those plays the same way but the menu stays onscreen. I’m going to pack all these discs in a box and send them to Warner, I’ll make a video of myself packing the box when that time comes. This is ENTIRELY inexcusable- thousands of discs were affected by this and many are not in print in any form now. Warner NEEDS to re-press EVERY title affected by this and do an even exchange, regardless of whether it’s still in print or not.
