Think bigger. Think faster. Time is money. And this week, that saying has never felt more real. What starts as another week of running a building company quickly turns into one of the most intense episodes yet — a week that could change everything for the next 12 months. For better… or for worse. I push myself right to the edge trying to squeeze more out of this week than any other — because this time it’s not just a job on the line… it’s my family home. Every decision comes back to the same battle in my head: time vs money — and getting it wrong isn’t an option. We kick off the next big projects while that pressure mounts. I check in on my sister’s extension as it reaches the final stages and challenge the team to get the interior plastered before Christmas, so we can roll straight into the rear extension internals. Over on another site, the scale of the build really starts to show. With Danny the bricklayer on it all week alongside apprentice Luis, the job suddenly looks massive — and the clock is ticking. Steve’s generosity soon turns into a logistical nightmare. With vans and cars constantly being shuffled to get wagons in and out, it isn’t long before a tow truck arrives — no tax, no MOT, and one vehicle disappearing. Steve’s definitely not going to be happy when he finds out… Anyone in the trades will understand how quickly late starts and early finishes spread through a team — and how fast they can destroy budgets and deadlines. With everything on the line, I try to shut it down early on the next houses before it snowballs. ASC Grab Hire and Grundy & Co Recycling take over the driveway as it becomes a carousel of grabs and stone deliveries. What looked like a solid driveway quickly reveals itself to be flags laid straight on soil — and when a grab wagon gets stuck, we’re forced to think fast and come up with a solution that’ll make every delivery from here on in easier. After a failed cherry picker job, my weekend is spent getting hands-on trying to diagnose a fault you really don’t want — controls moving on their own while 18 metres in the air. Up, down, left, right… without touching a thing. Can I figure out what’s causing it before it becomes dangerous? There’s a moment where it all clicks — this job needs every tool I’ve invested in over the years, and having the yard means we can get them to site instantly. This could be the job that launches us into bigger and better developments. Once again, Welder Fabber comes to the rescue. After overloading the claw on the new excavator lifting a huge concrete slab, one message to Baz and an early trip to the workshop has it sorted in 30 minutes flat. Back on site, lads opened up, problem solved. That’s what real professional service looks like. We even get some unexpected visitors — my mum, aunty and sister pop down for a site tour before things fully kick off. My mum turns up in a very creative pair of site boots 🥾… and even a neighbour tags along for a look around. We finish the episode with the worst-kept secret of them all… But is it good news — or bad? As always, thanks for watching.
