The Cairngorms National Park, located in the Scottish Highlands, is the UK's largest national park (4,528 sq km) and features five of Scotland’s six highest mountains, arctic-alpine landscapes, and ancient Caledonian forests. It is a premier year-round destination for hiking, skiing (CairnGorm, Lecht, Glenshee), and wildlife spotting, hosting a quarter of the UK’s rare species. Winter weather in the Cairngorms (typically November to April) is characterized as long, very cold, and windy, offering some of the most reliable snow conditions in the UK. Situated in the Scottish Highlands, this area features arctic-like conditions, especially on the high plateaus, with temperatures frequently falling below 0°C (32°F) and a wind chill as low as -23°C (-9°F)
