Dr. Mohamed Abdelhafez '11, the founder and first president of our very own AUC Robotics Club! Mohamed Abdelhafez '11 holds a bachelor's degree in physics from AUC. Before joining MIT, he earned his Ph.D. in physics (quantum computing) at the University of Chicago, where he received three teaching awards. At MIT, he was awarded the 2020 MIT Graduate Student Council Teaching Award and became a full-time lecturer in physics after only one year as a postdoctoral associate. He was recognized for his innovative teaching methods, including enhancing online platforms and creating instructional videos, as well as his dedication to student learning. Dr. Mohamed Abdelhafez has a discussion about personal experiences, professional growth, and challenges faced in various fields, with a focus on physics, robotics, and competitions. Participants also explored the state of education in Egypt, the importance of youth involvement in these fields, and the potential contribution of young people to projects. The conversation also touched on the differences between the American and Egyptian university systems, the importance of networking, and the challenges of pursuing advanced studies in Egypt.
