I’m not sure how this one got burnt out but it definitely needs to be changed. It’s pretty easy to do even if you’ve never done it before and I’ll show you step-by-step how to do it with some basic household tools. One of the things needed is a circuit tester. Start with a circuit tester to see if this is an active outlet. Then you'll have to take off the face plate before the real repair work begins. And turn off the circuit breaker before working on any wiring. I bought a 10-pack of Leviton electrical outlets which was actually pretty inexpensive. You could just buy one but since this is a rental house I wanted some extras around in case I had more to replace. A pair of pliers and a screw driver is all that is needed for this DIY project. Hopefully in this video I’ve been able to show you how easy it is to replace a bad outlet in your home. I’m not an electrician but I’ve replaced several of these since being a home owner.
