Italo, IK3UMZ demonstrates AM (MW) diversity tuning with the dual tuner RSPduo and SDRuno software from SDRplay. Italo writes: "Here’s what you can do with “diversity” : Same frequency , but with two different transmitters ; with different distances and therefore travelling different paths . With “diversity” you can discriminate using the phase difference and therefore the signal . Set-up RSP-DUO Antenna 1 orthogonal magnetic loops diameter 1m Antenna 2 delta loop 20m, approx 40m away from Antenna 1" In the video you see how Italo uses the manual phase control to select between the two transmissions, both on 918kHz AM choosing to listen to either one or the other. This is just one way of using the diversity feature. It can also be used in automatic mode for calculating and maintaining the best of both signals using "Maximum Ratio Combination" . It can also be used to help reduce unwanted noise sources.
