[Celeste] Ancient Engine (Intermediate) - 2020 Spring Collab

And here it comes: the absolutely worst map in the entirety of the intermediate lobby! It tries to be some kind of maze/puzzle/metroidvania type thing where you have to backtrack in order to unlock new passages and collectibles, but it falls flat as hard as a single sheet of graphine. The repeated completion of the same three rooms quickly becomes tedious, and none of them were actually fun to play. Gameplay felt extremely janky and checkpoints were weird at times. You often have no way of going back except to go through another same 5 rooms worth of unfun gameplay, so the backtracking aspect didn't work at all. Metroidvanias have maps for a reason, you know. Haven't the music been there, I already would have gone insane after playing for 10 minutes. Also the only map in this lobby where I noped out midway through. (Another ragequitted map was Mural Skies in the Advanced lobby, mind you.) In summary, this map failed to have an engaging gameplay, a fun concept, consideration for players: All of which are integral parts of making a good map. Fuck this. Heart Side video coming soon.
