For the pastry. 200g / 7oz Plain Flour 0.10 30g / 1oz Icing Sugar 0.03 Pinch of salt 0.00 50g / 1.7oz Butter 0.38 50g / 1.7oz Lard 0.10 1 Egg 0.14 For the frangipane. 80g / 2.8oz Ground Almonds 0.80 1 tsp almond essence 0.12 100g / 3.5oz Butter 0.76 100g / 3.5oz Sugar 0.12 2 eggs 0.28 50g / 1.7oz Flour 0.03 50g / 1.7oz Jam 0.12 300g / 10.5 icing sugar 0.75 Total Cost 3.75 8 Slices at 0.46 each. Add the flour, icing sugar, and salt into a bowl. Add the butter and rub into the flour. Then add the egg and bring the dough together. Shape into a round and place in the fridge for 1 hour. Bake in the oven for 20 - 25mins at 170c / 392f / gas mark 6. Mix the icing sugar with a little water to make a thick icing. Take a little of it and add some red colouring. Spread the icing over the top of the tart and cross it with a series of lines with the red icing and pull a cocktail stick through the links to create a pattern.
