The missile of the Ukrainian operational-tactical missile system Sapsan, known abroad under the name Grom-2, is capable of moving along an aeroballistic trajectory, performing unexpected maneuvers, which makes it a difficult target for anti-missile systems, said military analyst Dmitry Snegirev. This capability significantly increases the probability of overcoming enemy air defense. The Russian Iskander OTRK has similar characteristics. According to him, the real range of the Sapsan can reach 500 km, which puts it on par with the German Taurus missiles and surpasses the American ATACMS, whose range is up to 300 km. Snegirev specified that Russian military airfields, including Millerovo and Baltimore, where frontline aviation is based, could be in the missile’s range, actively used to strike Ukrainian Armed Forces positions using guided aerial bombs. Also within the radius of destruction are rear bases both in the occupied and Russian territories. In his opinion, the presence of Ukraine's own ballistic missile could significantly undermine the enemy's logistics and change the political situation, depriving Russia of the opportunity to impose ultimatums. Military expert Valeriy Ryabykh from Defense Express added that thanks to its powerful warhead from 500 kg to 1 ton and long range, the Sapsan could play a key role in Ukraine's transition from a defensive strategy to a strategic offensive. One of the missile's developers, retired Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, reported on the FREEDOM TV channel that the Sapsan project was initiated back in 2006. With the start of a full-scale war, the project received a new impetus. According to Romanenko, successful missile tests were conducted in 2023, and in May 2024, combat launches were conducted at a distance of 300 km. At that time, the Sapsan hit a Russian command post and Iskander missile launchers. Although the project was previously limited to a range of up to 270 km, even then the design included a potential of 500 km. Among the system's strengths are its powerful warhead and advanced guidance system. Ukraine is currently working to ramp up production: the goal is to produce dozens and then hundreds of such missiles per month. According to Romanenko, drones and cruise missiles like Neptune alone cannot solve the problem of long-range strikes. http://youtube.com/kanal13az/join - click here and support Kanal13 monthly for distributing more videos and independent journalism http://t.me/kanal13tv & https://bit.ly/37BVMqU https://www.youtube.com/user/kanal13a... https://bit.ly/2Rs6MB3 #lastminutenewsfromukraine #kanal13ukraine https://bit.ly/2V19Fdy Click here and just subscribe to Kanal13 - https://www.youtube.com/user/kanal13a... https://www.youtube.com/KANAL13AZ/join *ATTENTION: If you woul like to contact with US please, write to +49176 75077516 WhatsApp ▌▌►Website: http://kanal13.tv/ / tvkanal13 / kanal13az / kanal13.az Click & Subscribe to the main youtube Channel © KANAL13 [ Azərbaycanın ilk peşəkar internet televiziyası ] The First Internet TV of Azerbaijan Tags: #Ukriane, #Russia, #Putin, #Putler, #Russian invasion of Ukraine, #Zelenski, #Kiev, #Kyiv, #Kadirov army, #Kadirov, #Kherson, #Bucha, #Kharkiv, #Ukrainian pilots, #vagners, #Russian tanks, #NATO, #drones, #Moscow, #Kreml, #war victims #Ukraina, News, The Washington Post, waPo Video, Washington Post Video, Washington Post YouTube, a:politics, aid, biden, putin, s:Politics, support, t:Other, Ukraine, war, fact check, news coverage, Donald Trump, news, wp video, forbes, nytimes, newspaper, media, journalism, Ilham Aliyev, Baku, Azerbaijan, Israel, Gaza, Palestine, Tel-Aviv, Garabag, Karabakh, football, ronaldo, messi, brian tyler cohen
