On Friday, President Trump said he is instructing his “representatives” to buy $200 billion in mortgage bonds to drive down mortgage rates. For investors such as Blackstone and Pretium, the proposed buying ban on single-family homes — which Trump has said he will further detail next week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland — may be less impactful because many had already curbed their purchases of existing homes.
