Broadway is located in Worcestershire, in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in southwest England. It's easily accessible from cities like Oxford, Cheltenham, and Stratford-upon-Avon. The name "Broadway" comes from Old English and literally means "broad way" or "wide road". This refers to the village's unusually wide High Street, which was historically used as a major coaching route for horse-drawn carriages traveling between London and Worcester, especially during the medieval and Georgian periods. The broad, open street layout made it a natural stopover point for travelers, traders, and later tourists. Over time, the name "Broad Way" became "Broadway", and it perfectly describes the physical character of the village even today – a wide, scenic street lined with honey-colored Cotswold stone buildings, shops, and cottages. Broadway Tower is a folly (decorative tower), built in 1798 for Lady Coventry, designed by architect James Wyatt. It stands 312 meters (1,024 ft) above sea level, making it the second highest point in the Cotswolds. On a clear day, you can see up to 16 counties from the top of the tower. Over the years, it served as a home to artists like William Morris, a printing press, and even a nuclear observation post during the Cold War. Today, it’s a major tourist attraction offering spectacular panoramic views and a peek into local history. ☕ Support the Channel • Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/simpymeandyou • Direct to PayPal: https://paypal.me/simplymeandyou1?cou...
