Jabba’s Movies Sunday November 16, 2025 Being Eddie 2 & ½ Stars “A Remarkable Life. *But Frustrating Doc” From Beverly Hills Cop to the Nutty Professor and his electrifying specials Delirious and then Raw - the highest-grossing stand-up comedy concert film ever released – he’s up there with Michael Jackson, Prince and Whitney Houston – except he’s still breathing. Unlike his buddy Shrek who claims “Ogres are like onions. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers”, (voice of Donkey) Eddie Murphy’s layers are surprisingly thin. Being Eddie takes a somewhat superficial look at his life and career through on camera interviews with Eddie Murphy and notable collaborators almost all male, mostly all singing his praises. Which for a documentary becomes a bit one sided – we all want some dirt. Cue Netflix Comeback show. The Beast in Me 2 Stars “Crime Fans Froth 4 Exhausting Binge” As Matthew Rhys says to Claire Danes in 8 part series “The Beast in Me “People want gossip and carnage.” Rhys, best known for starring alongside Keri Russell in The Americans, plays Nile Jarvis, a Manhattan property developer accused, but not found guilty, of murdering his wife, as her body was never found. He moves in next door to celebrated author Aggie Wiggs, reeling from personal tragedy and suffering writers block, she accepts his offer to become the subject of her next book. Cue lots of Hitchcock music and no scene without Danes quivering, twitching or bulging her eyes. It’s exhausting.
