On March 4, 1936, the LZ-129 Hindenburg (nicknamed the Titanic of the Sky) was first unveiled to the World for its first Maiden Transatlantic Flight, making 17 round trips in 1936 alone. Within the Hindenburg's structure were 16 Gas cell chambers, which possessed 16 Gas-bags filled with Hydrogen (rather than Helium) to give the Zeppelin its flight... a decision that would later be proven disastrous. In 1937, the Hindenburg had completed 10 rounds trips between Europe and the United States for its second run, carrying 97 People (36 Passengers and 61 Crewmen) in total. On May 6, 1937, the Hindenburg had reached NAS Lakehurst, Manchester Township in New Jersey for its final docking procedure after being delayed due to the account of rain, with many News Reporters and cameras trained on the Airship. Then... at 7:25 P.M., just as the mooring ropes were dropped to the Ground Crew... The Hindenburg suddenly burst into flames, igniting the Hydrogen, cause the Zeppelin to burn and crash to the ground within 30 Seconds. The Accident claimed 36 Lives (13 Passenger, 22 Crewmen, and 1 Ground Crew Member) while a total of 62 People (23 Passenger and 39 Crewmen) survived the Disaster. An inquiry was set up to determine the cause of the Disaster. There was a theory of sabotage, believing that a bomb was placed in the Hindenburg, but it was later ruled out. A plausible theory that was put forth was that it was a Static spark that cause the Hydrogen to ignite from a leak with contributing factors. It is believed that a wire in the Hindenburg's framework snapped and slice one of the Gas-bags when the Zeppelin made a sharp turn to dock. Witnesses did report seeing the Hindenburg's fabric flapping, which indicated the Hydrogen leakage. One witness did say there was a dim Blue Flame (possibly St. Elmo's Fire) in the tail-end of the Airship due to the Zeppelin's canvas skin being dampened earlier from the rain, before the Hindenburg erupted into a fireball at that exact moment the Blue Flame was spotted. By the end of the investigation, the dream of Transatlantic Flight by Zeppelin was now terminated due to the Hindenburg Disaster, with its true cause debated to this day. For this Re-Edit, I implemented newly discovered footage of the Hindenburg Disaster, as well as other pieces of footage of the event from all distances and angles, whereas I decided to rearrange and cut a few scenes to make sure it flowed smoothly and capture the dramatic urgency of the situation. I decided to cut the Bomb scene to make this scene stick closely to the Static Spark theory. Just for your information, the events taking place inside the Hindenburg all happened in the span of 30 Seconds, hence the repetition of some scenes in some of the Archival Shots I utilized. Forgive me if some scenes look blurry or choppy. This is uploaded in memory of the 36 lives lost on this day. I do NOT own ANY of the following material in the video. "The Hindenburg" is directed by the late Robert Wise and is owned by Universal Studios. All the Archival Footage of the Hindenburg Disaster belongs to their rightful owner(s).
