Bought the Philips AquaTouch Shaver 1000 a while ago during a sale, but have kept it for too long because the old shaver lasted pretty long before giving up. When we finally took it out to use, the internal battery simply gave up and refused to charge up anymore. After charging and draining for a few cycles, the internal NiMH AAA only managed to give 5 minutes of run time. Disappointing! So we took it apart, with intention to replace the AAA cells, but realised that we have Lithium 602427 tiny packs available from our last Meilan M3 GPS battery swap. • Meilan M3 GPS Bicycle Speedometer internal... Threw in two lithium packs for a 2P config at 3.7v, and hope it will last. This is our quick how-to video for DIY battery replacement. 飞利浦电动剃刀改换电池 Two days later, report:- Lithium battery replacement failed. The Shaver's red LED kept flashing after 2mins of use. Lithium pack's voltage are still in 3.9v range, so nothing wrong with the batteries. We suspect it might be a over-voltage protection in the shaver kicking in and terminating the usage. Subsequently, the red light kept flashing and refused to start. Its a common problem where base operating voltage range and low voltage disconnect of the circuit was designed for 2S NiMH cell, so the peak is probably 2.4v~3.0v range, while the LVD is probably set at 2.0v. The Lithium packs when fully charged is in the range of 4.2v, thus the shaver's circuit detected it as over voltage. Oh well, mod failed... so we took it the lithium 2P pack out, replaced back with 2x AAA NiMH Sanyo cells and the operation resumed normally. #diytools #diy #diyprojects #batterychange #lithiumbattery #diyfail
