Should We Feed Our Compost Worms Grit?

The question is why should we feed our compost worms grit? Worms like many birds need the grit to process the food they eat so they can pass it out as a casting. The most common grits worm farmers feed worms are crushed eggshells and coffee grounds. However, some worm farmers also use rock minerals, basalt dust, and even oyster shells. Without this grit, the worms just couldn't survive so it's highly beneficial and should be approximately five percent of their diet.
