Positions of Arms and Feet 1️⃣ First position Stand with your heels together and your toes turned out to the sides, creating a small "V" shape between your feet. Your arms should be rounded and held slightly in front of your body. 2️⃣ Second position Step your feet apart so they are shoulder-width apart. Extend your arms out to the sides at shoulder height. 3️⃣ Third position Bring one foot in front of the other, so that the heel of the front foot touches the arch of the back foot. Your arms are usually held as a combination of first, in front of the body and second position, extended to the side. 4️⃣ Fourth position Step one foot forward and to the side, so that your feet are not quite shoulder-width apart. Your arms are usually held as a combination of first, in front of the body and fifth, crowning your head. 5️⃣ Fifth position Bring one foot in front of the other, so that the heel of the front foot touches the toe of the back foot. Your arms can be held in any position, but they are usually held in a rounded shape above your head 6️⃣ Sixth position A relaxed neutral position with your feet parallel. To execute these positions, it's important to maintain proper ballet posture by keeping your back straight, shoulders down, and core engaged.
