J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial Exactly one year ago, on May 15th, 2022, I posted my very first video to this YouTube channel. In that video, I casually explored the very creepy and disturbing Hoosac Tunnel, located in the beautiful town of Florida, Massachusetts (yes, there is a town in Massachusetts called Florida!). Ever since then, my channel has grown exponentially, and I have greatly improved and refined my craft. I have explored all throughout New England, and filmed a diverse array of unique abandoned locations and fascinating historic sites. Now it is one year later, on May 15th, 2023, and I am excited to revisit this historic train tunnel yet again! The Hoosac Tunnel is one of Massachusetts' most captivating locations: built between 1851 and 1875, this 4.75 mile (7.64 kilometer) long tunnel has claimed the lives of over 200 people (with at least 135 verified). Because of this, some even say it is haunted by the spirits of those who perished. Its dangerous workplace environment was a result of primitive tools used for digging out the tunnel, ranging from hand-mining with pickaxes and drills to early forms of nitroglycerin. The Hoosac Tunnel is still in use today, and all visitors are urged to beware as it is a very active railroad with trains going in and out of the tunnel each day. I had a great time revisiting and exploring this place again: it has given me a newfound appreciation for the Hoosac Tunnel! When I went for the first time one year ago, I was new to YouTube videos and filming in front of a camera: I unfortunately got some information wrong and even mispronounced the name multiple times (it's pronounced "Hoosick" not "Hoosack"). However, that first video is still a part of my history, and it has launched me into a greatly enjoyable experience of making exploration videos for everyone to enjoy--I couldn't be prouder. MAJOR shout out to everyone who has stuck by my side throughout this past year, and I hope to see you for the next one! I also hope you all enjoy this revisit of the Hoosac Tunnel, one of the creepiest landmarks in the state, nestled underneath the Hoosac Range of the Berkshires! If you guys liked this video, make sure to stay tuned for more exploration videos all across New England!
