The Pastor of the church, who worked at the same company as I did, knew of my interest in Hammond's and graciously allowed me to use the Hammond Organ in his church to play my non-secular music (if you will). This was a hot Friday afternoon around 2 or 3pm, I seem to remember, and no, the Pastor did not turn on the air conditioning for me! I used a portable cassette player to record myself; first atop the organ, then atop the Leslie Speaker-- to test for sound difference based on microphone placement. The quality of the recorder was not great, as it was designed for voice recording (with a built-in condenser mic), and not music recording. That combined with over 30 years of tape degradation, and I warn in advance that the sound quality (as well as the musical quality) is not the best. A good deal of the time I was merely pushing drawbars in and out and trying my feet on the foot pedals. I do not pretend that this is a work of art or anywhere near my best performance. My purpose for sharing it is to give you an idea of where I started, and a comparison to see how far I've come. Hope you enjoy.
