Last week I made an acrylic painting that completely stole my heart. This time, I wanted to explore that same approach, but without using green at all. I started this painting very intuitively, building a rough background with warm, earthy tones like burnt sienna. In the beginning it looks strange, unfinished, and honestly a bit messy, but that part no longer worries me. I know the background needs time before it starts to speak. Just like with my previous painting, I let the background do the heavy lifting. I worked from dark to light, focused on depth and overlapping shapes, and consciously resisted my tendency to make everything neat. These colors have always drawn me in, but I never quite knew how to use them without leaning on green. This painting finally showed me how. Minimal, warm, rough, and full at the same time. I love when a painting teaches me something new. Next week I’m planning to continue in this style with turquoise tones.Thank you so much for watching. 💘 VALENTINE SALE (Feb 11–15) I’m running a Valentine's Sale on my two botanical painting courses.
