This video shows how I plan my flights in MSFS — focusing on ideas, routes, and inspiration rather than strict rules Flight planning is half the fun in flight simulation — and it doesn’t have to be about rules, checklists, or doing everything “by the book”. I walk through how I get ideas for planning flights in MSFS — whether I’m flying solo or organising group flights. This is about inspiration, exploration, and turning a flight into an experience. We explore terrain and visual reference points using SkyVector, check real-world weather with Ventusky and BadBadWeather, and look at navlogs, fuel planning, and wind drift using a virtual E6B. From there, we move into simulator-focused tools like the MSFS Flight Planner, Navigraph, and SimBrief, before diving into purpose-driven flying with FireFly Air, SayIntentions, and OnAir — from structured airline routes to story-driven missions and career mode flying. We also look at historical inspiration using the Northwest Airlines History Center, showing how real-world routes from decades ago can spark ideas for where to fly next. It's a great way of finding interesting flights, flying with intent, and making the most of the world MSFS gives us. 👇 Your turn • Check out our upcoming group flights and see if there are interesting routes or landmarks along the way • Suggest routes or ideas in the comments — go plan something and share it Links used in this video: SkyVector – https://skyvector.com/ Ventusky – https://www.ventusky.com/ Bad Bad Weather – https://www.badbadweather.com/ Virtual E6B – https://e6bx.com/e6b-simulator/ MSFS Flight Planner – https://planner.flightsimulator.com/ FireFly Air – https://fshub.io/airline/FFA/overview SayIntentions – https://www.sayintentions.ai/ OnAir – https://www.onair.company/ Northwest Airlines History Center – https://northwestairlineshistory.org/...
