The Spin is delighted to be putting on the first full band ‘jazz injector’ gig at The Oxford Artisan Distillery with the groove-meisters, Time Is Of The Essence. Featuring the outstanding saxophonist Ollie Weston, the band performs original pieces ("finely honed, instantly appealing and right up there with any contemporary jazz writing…” ~ The Guardian) and fiesty fare by the likes of Steely Dan, John Scofield and Stevie Wonder. The band’s collective CVs include recordings and performances with, among others, Mike Oldfield, Shirley Bassey, Nigel Kennedy, Barbara Thompson, Tom Jones, Bobby Wellins, Amy Winehouse, Sax Appeal, Tim Minchin, Anita Wardell, Paul McCandles, John Etheridge… Despite the various lockdowns, the band have kept writing and rehearsing whenever they could, so expect a real ‘return performance’ of joyous and fiery material throughout! Tickets are limited to 50 and we are again offering an ‘early bird’ discount of one-third off, if purchased by the 19th July; please take advantage of this - it really helps The Spin too! In addition to this promising to be a great night of music, The Oxford Artisan Distillery is also in itself, a wonderful place.
