Darkness has a strong effect, it can diminish our mood and paralyze us with fear, heightening our other senses. In the dark we feel most vulnerable, losing our sense of sight alters the way in which we connect with others and our surroundings. Jellyfish have the unique ability to brighten the depths of the sea. This has heavily inspired me to create a similar multisensory experience, which like the jellyfish can interact with its surroundings and alter its appearance depending on the change in environment. To be illuminated means to be a source of light, not only to yourself but also to others around you, therefore changing people's perspective in a dark space. I aim to use Luminescent elements to create functional yet aesthetically beautiful garments. Where people can connect with the garments through the visualisation of light and colour, the tactile softness of the fabric and the feeling of illumination they are possessing.
