28 Days of Yoga for Beginners 1 Pose a Day Challenge Day 25 Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana) Why do you want to do Standing Forward Fold? Relax your mind and nervous system. Where Do You Feel It? Feel the generous stretch along your backline Let’s Get Into It! From standing (Feet can be hips width distance or together) Ground into your feet so that you feel securely balanced on the mat Inhale Exhale, hinge at your hips Bring your hands down to the mat Place a slight bend in your knees Engage your abs Draw your tailbone up Draw your shoulders away from your ears Relax your neck and gaze back Draw your chin in more towards your chest if you like and Take a few relaxing breaths here. Be Mindful Work to eliminate rounding in the back Hips shouldn’t be sticking out past the heels Options/Modifications Take a more generous bend in the knees Gratitude Thank you for flowing with me. This pose is a pillar for most yoga classes-it is integral to the transitions of most yoga flows as it relaxes the body and provides a reprieve between other poses.
