Consequently, walkers and hikers must always carry adequate weather protection gear and equipment. Recently, however, during a two-day coast-to-coast hike across Singapore, I became severely sunburnt due to my carelessness and impatience. Ironically, with over 30 years' experience in walking and hiking, one would expect that I knew a thing or two about safety and being prepared for the harsh outdoors. But sadly, no. In this instance, experience and prior knowledge were poor taskmasters and teachers. I was lazy and complacent, cutting corners unnecessarily. I was so eager to get started that I didn't pay sufficient attention to what I was doing. I made an easily preventable mistake. Watch to see if I make amends?
