How can universities scale digital learning without adding more staff? In this case study, Asia Pacific University (APU) shares how they reduced instructional video production from 3 days to just 30 minutes using AI video creation. APU supports 20,000 students and over 400 lecturers, and their Digital Learning Hub faced growing demand for teaching videos, LMS tutorials, and student onboarding content. Traditional video production workflows were slow and resource-intensive — often taking days or even weeks for a single 3–5 minute video. By introducing AI video creation with Pictory, faculty members were able to produce instructional videos themselves with minimal training. The result: Video production reduced from 72 hours to ~30 minutes Faculty are able to create videos independently 20,000 students successfully onboarded to a new exam system using video guidance As Jonathan Kovipillai from APU explains: “When video production drops from days to minutes, faculty aren’t stuck editing content — they’re back to teaching, mentoring, and guiding students.” If you work in higher education, instructional design, academic technology, or digital learning, this video shows how AI can help universities scale video learning without increasing headcount.
