I think I made a cursed object. 😬 I'm so over the video of the fan with the spinning light kit, it's been posted everywhere on the internet a dozen times. Yes, it has gotten old for me. So clearly I should make a new video of the same thing. 😅 This IS a video that I've wanted to make for a long time, because people have genuinely asked what's going on in that original video. It started out as being a pretty factual concept, but as I got into the end demonstrations it started becoming clear how ridiculously dumb this entire thing was after spending a whole afternoon creating such premium content. 👌 That being said, I feel like this is the content we NEED right now. It's stupid, and I hope it provides some entertainment value. Also I've now seen the original video like 100 more times after filming and editing this so can the internet stop reposting it everywhere now? Thx. 😂 If I see it on the electrical hacks Facebook page for the 87th time I might lose it. 😣😄🚨 I'm still not sure what exactly happened for that original video to be possible, whether the shaft broke at the threads or if it's simply unscrewed. Thinking further about it after filming, I looked at a bunch of my Hunter fans, and the specific housing contours and dimensions do really determine whether or not the full length of the shaft could possibly be contained inside if unscrewed from the adapter. Those with a deeper lip around the motor opening could realistically allow the motor to sit slightly lower. While I took about 1/2" of the shaft off, it was more than necessary and it's truly only about 1/4" of actual difference for the fan I used; a dimensional variation that could be plausible based purely on the housing design.
