Meeting Faithfulness With Faith | December 21st, 2025 | Hope Church Anglican | Dcn. Andrew Wininger

On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, we stand at the threshold of Christmas—remembering not only that Christ has come, but that God has always been faithful to His promises. In this sermon, we look at two men facing impossible situations: King Ahaz, who was met by God’s mercy and refused to trust Him, and Joseph, a humble carpenter who received only a promise—and responded in faithful obedience. Through Isaiah 7 and Matthew 1, we are confronted with a searching question: When God promises salvation, will we trust His faithfulness—or resist it? Advent prepares us to receive Christmas rightly—not casually, but with hearts shaped by repentance, hope, and faith. As we celebrate Christ’s coming as Immanuel, God with us, we remember His faithfulness then so that we might trust Him now, even in sin, suffering, disappointment, and doubt.
