Unapologetic: challenging discommunication

This short film looks at the stories of people who stutter (PWS) in Newfoundland and Labrador. It focusses on "discommunication", which is when a communicator disregards, dismisses, disrespects, or discriminates based on how one talks. Discommunication happens when an interlocutor interrupts, hurries, or takes the floor away from a PWS. It exemplifies the interlocutor's inability to be appropriately sensitive to communication differences. Discommunication doesn't need to be malicious or intentional to isolate a PWS from a conversation and from social relationships more broadly.
