Omotesenke Tea Ceremony: 8 Key Points of the Male Furo Procedure In this video, I demonstrate the basic furo (portable brazier) procedure in the male style of Omotesenke tea ceremony. While both male and female styles exist today, the male version is the original form, passed down since the time of the samurai. After the Edo period, the female version was created based on this foundational style. This video highlights the 8 key differences between the male and female procedures, including: 1. Purple fukusa for men 2. Poised placement of the futaoki 3. Performing kobuki 4. Chiriuchi (the soft "pon" sound when snapping the fukusa) 5. Removing the kettle lid with bare hands 6. Presenting the tea bowl from imae (seated position) 7. The hikibishaku ladling technique 8. Holding the chashaku while handling the fukusa I hope this video helps deepen your understanding of Omotesenke’s refined tradition. 🔔 If you enjoy learning about Japanese tea culture, please like, comment, and subscribe to my channel!
