Celebrating 12 years of Connected Studio, Taster, News Labs, MakerBox and more...

The BBC has a long history of innovation, and at the heart of the BBC’s most transformative innovations has always been BBC Research & Development. We’ve done that by anticipating the world's needs, and shaping the future of media through prototyping, experimentation, collaborations and industry standardisation. Our organisation and industry has changed a huge amount in the past decade, and quite rightly we have evolved. So the time is right to pivoting to new challenges, moving away from some activities, including our Innovation Labs which we set up to bring people, ideas, and technology together across the BBC and the wider creative sector. We're now looking at new ways to innovate, and will be working with the BBC and industry partners to design and develop transformative digital experiences that are ready for market - more on this to come later in 2025! In the meantime, let's celebrate the work and the people who have contributed to the Labs over the past 12 years!
