I decided to upload a re graded version of my latest test with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and the Laowa 9mm f/2.8. As I mentioned before, I wanted to EXPERIMENT with our Crunchy Gold LUT and I am very happy with the result (   • BMPCC4K and LAOWA 9MM F/2.8 - The best wid...  ). The reason why I re graded the video is because I wanted to show people what colors really look like when using the Laowa and I also wanted to see how well my new favorite ISO performs. This video was shot at ISO 640 and I have to say, this is the sweet spot I was looking for. A lot of people shoot at ISO 800/1000 to optimize the DR in the highlights, but for my standards, the footage at that ISO is totally unusable, even in bright daylight conditions. The noise is all over the place and the color shift is huge. 640 is super clean and retains a lot of informations in both highlights and shadows. As you can see from this new re graded version the dynamic range at sunset is incredible. Informations are well preserved in every part of the frame. I think this is the best ISO for daylight situations, specially when combined with our Natural Rec709 LUT. This was shot in BRAW 8:1. Regarding the lens, it is sharp, but not ultra sharp and it holds up very well even at f/2.8. There is literally zero distortion and the build quality is excellent. I didn't use my NiSi IRND and matte box, but only a Tiffen Variable ND, which occasionally caused some vignetting (the lens DOES NOT vignette at all). Also, at 2.8 the lens has a very nice shallow depth of field considering is a 9mm. In comparison, the 7.5mm does have some distortion and it’s not as sharp. Good job Laowa!
