The Federal Hostel was part of the Northern Affairs Branch Small Hostels program. The Cambridge Bay Federal Hostel was alternately identified as: "St. George's Anglican Mission DaySchool" (1955), "Cambridge Bay F.D.S." (Federal Day School) (1959), "Cambridge Bay Territorial School" (1969), "Ilihakvik School" (1871), "Kuilik Ilihakvik" (1994), "Kiilinik Sr. High School" (1994).. and there were also other names. Inuit children who attended the Federal Hostel At Cambridge Bay and the associated residential schools that were transported and/or, 'taken' from their homes and communities came from the following locations: Bathurst Inlet, Bay Chimo, Cam Sites, Daniel Moore Bay, DEW Line Sites, Gjoa Haven, Holman, Inuvik, Perry Island, Pin 3, Taloyoak and Wellington Bay. Inuit children were 'shipped' great distances, sometimes thousands of kilometres away, to a scattering of newly established, government schools and were often 'separated' from their parents for 'years at a time', while attending these schools. ------------------------------------------------ **** I claim no ownership of any of the clips, video and music expressed in this video and employ my borrowing of them, with much respect and thanks.
