The recently completed US Bishops meetings in Baltimore featured discussion on the Synod on Synodality, 2 sainthood causes and votes for new committee chairmen. It also included a call from one Church leader to bring back a tradition that dates from the early Church. Archbishop Borys Gudziak says a return to abstaining from meat on Fridays would be "good for the soul and for the planet." It also would bring the Roman Catholic Church closer to the Eastern Orthodox faiths, which do not eat meat on Fridays. Catholic News Agency says that in 1966, the USCCB removed the obligation for the faithful to abstain from meat except during Lent. EWTN's Fr.
