Even though this is a semi-open Sicilian, still both players find it comfortable to make long term knight maneuvers. Morozevich even finds time to play Nb1 back at some point. #morozevich #erichansen Morozevich, Alexander (2659) Hansen, Eric (2606) Event: World Blitz 2019 Site: Moscow RUS Date: 12/30/2019 Round: 18.28 Score: 1-0 ECO: B23 Sicilian, closed 1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 e6 3.g3 Nc6 4.Bg2 Nf6 5.Nge2 d6 6.O-O a6 7.f4 Qc7 8.d3 b5 9.h3 Bb7 10.g4 Nd4 11.Ng3 h6 12.Nb1 Be7 13.c3 Nc6 14.Nd2 g6 15.Nf3 Nd7 16.d4 Nb6 17.b3 h5 18.g5 h4 19.Nh1 Nb8 20.Nf2 N8d7 21.Qe2 e5 22.fxe5 dxe5 23.dxe5 Nxe5 24.Nxe5 Qxe5 25.Ng4 Qe6 26.Nf6+ Kf8 27.Bf4 Rd8 28.Rf2 c4 29.Be3 Nd7 30.Ng4 cxb3 31.axb3 Ne5 32.Nh6 Kg7 33.Raf1 Rdf8 34.Qd2 f6 35.Bd4 Rxh6 36.gxh6+ Kh7 37.Qe3 Rd8 38.Kh1 a5 39.Rd2 Rc8 40.Qf4 g5 41.Qf5+ Qxf5 42.Rxf5 Kxh6 43.Bxe5 fxe5 44.Rd7 Rxc3 45.Rxe7 1-0 By advancing the c-pawn two squares, Black asserts control over the d4-square and begins the fight for the centre of the board. The move resembles 1…e5, the next most common response to 1.e4, in that respect. Unlike 1...e5, however, 1...c5 breaks the symmetry of the position, which strongly influences both players' future actions. White, having pushed a kingside pawn, tends to hold the initiative on that side of the board. However, 1...c5 does little for Black's development, unlike moves such as 1...e5, 1...g6, or 1...Nc6, which either develop a minor piece or prepare to do so. In many variations of the Sicilian, Black makes a number of further pawn moves in the opening (for example, ...d6, ...e6, ...a6, and ...b5). Consequently, White often obtains a substantial lead in development and dangerous attacking chances. Meanwhile, advancing a queenside pawn has given Black a spatial advantage there and provides a basis for future operations on that flank. Often, Black's c5-pawn is traded for White's d4-pawn in the early stages of the game, granting Black a central pawn majority. The pawn trade also opens the c-file for Black, who can place a rook or queen on that file to support the queenside counterplay. Blitz chess and rapid chess video. Live blitz and rapid chess.
