Diving With PNW Beasts! - British Columbia Adventures

Epic PNW diving adventures over two unforgettable days around Victoria and Vancouver Island, BC! This video is packed with incredible wildlife encounters, underwater exploration, and an awesome community meetup. We kick things off with some freediving at the Ogden Point Breakwater in Victoria, BC, one of the most iconic PNW diving spots. The water was alive with countless lingcod, including several massive pregnant females guarded closely by males during spawning season. Watching these powerful fish in their natural habitat is always incredible, and this dive delivered nonstop action. As if that wasn’t enough, we also had a rare and exciting encounter with a spotted ratfish—an elusive deep-water fish that isn’t often seen by divers in the Pacific Northwest. Later that evening, the adventure continued topside as we stopped by the new East 2 West Freediving dive shop location to check out Fred and Laurie’s awesome new space. The night wrapped up with a snorkel group meetup, where I had the chance to speak in front of a large crowd about artificial reefs and shipwrecks around British Columbia, Canada, sharing stories and insights from years of diving the waters around Vancouver Island. On day two, the action moved north to Beachcombers Regional Park in Nanoose Bay, BC. I teamed up with Clayton from Aquatic Monkey for a scuba diving mission with the goal of cleaning up lost fishing gear from the ocean floor. But the dive quickly turned into something even more memorable when a massive sea lion showed up and hung out with us for most of the dive, turning the cleanup mission into an unforgettable underwater interaction. From freediving in Victoria to scuba diving in Nanoose Bay, rare fish encounters, sea lions, and connecting with the amazing PNW diving community, this was two days of non-stop adventure in the waters around Vancouver Island.
