It generally develop when narrowing of the valve is severe. Symptoms of aortic valve stenosis may include: 1. Abnormal heart sound (heart murmur) heard through a stethoscope. 2. Sudden chest pain (angina) or tightness with activity. 3. Feeling faint or dizzy or fainting with activity. 4. Shortness of breath, especially when you have been active. 5. Fatigue and weakness, especially during times of increased activity. 6. Heart palpitations, sensations of a rapid, fluttering heartbeat. 7. Not eating enough, mainly in children with aortic valve stenosis. 8. Not gaining enough weight, mainly in children with aortic valve stenosis. 9. Swelling in the feet, ankles, legs and veins around the neck. Infants and children may have different symptoms from adults, or they may not appear to display any symptoms at all. If they do display symptoms, these might include: 1. Inability to put on weight. 2. Not eating well. 3. Becoming easily fatigued. In severe cases, an infant may have major breathing difficulties or they may not appear to display any symptoms at all. Mild cases have the potential to worsen as the child gets older.
