This video is a recording of the November 2025 TEN4CT meeting • Debbie New, who is the Coordinator and founder of Vermont Community Thermal Networks. Debbie will report on a recent trip with Jared Rodriguez to West Union, Iowa, an important destination for understanding how a community can provide lower cost heating and cooling while also improving its streetscape and revitalizing its downtown. Beyond learning about the downtown’s functioning TEN (thermal energy network) and workable business model, they experienced a town that has embraced cooperation and local ownership to preserve its way of life and create a legacy for future generations. In a time when municipalities are more stretched and stressed than ever, West Union shows that doing big things is not only possible, but also can support multiple local needs, save money, and create pride in their community. • Lianne Allen Jacobson and Bernie Pelletier, who are part of the TEN4CT team and members of the West Hartford Energy Working Group, will give a short update on their first steps towards creating a coalition to explore TEN opportunities in West Hartford and the kinds of baseline information they have begun collecting.
