Campbell Chats — Episode 2: Finding My Voice | The Early Years Welcome back to Campbell Chats — a space for spoken, to-camera conversations about music, voice, and the experiences that shape us as singers and listeners. In this second episode, “Finding My Voice – The Early Years,” I reflect on the beginnings of my singing life, long before recordings, studios, or concert platforms entered the picture. I talk about how my voice was first noticed when I was around five years old, singing the National Anthem at school, and how early classroom music — shaped by musical teachers and elements of the Kodály approach — made singing feel like a natural part of everyday life rather than a separate discipline. This episode also touches on my earliest formal singing lessons, the role music played in developing confidence and clarity, and how singing even supported my speech development as a child. I reflect on my first vocal competitions — not as moments of rivalry, but as joyful opportunities to sing — and on a time when performing felt effortless and free of expectation. Finding My Voice is a gentle look at a formative period where music brought joy, purpose, and self-expression, even before I fully understood its long-term significance. 💬 When did music first become important in your life? 🎶 Was it through school, family, church, or another pathway entirely? I’d love to hear your experiences — please feel free to share in the comments. ✨ Campbell Chats continues with more reflections, musical discussions, and future episodes exploring the evolving relationship between voice, identity, and artistry. 🎵 New music and chats are shared regularly, with a new track released every Saturday at 10am AEST. Thank you for watching and for being part of this space. Stay tuned for the next episode of Campbell Chats, coming soon.
