A spectacular falling out between the Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and his deputy Sara Duterte has unleashed a political battle between two of the country’s most powerful political dynasties. The Marcos/Duterte feud has led to jaw dropping plot twists worthy of a political thriller with claims of drug addiction, corruption and the hiring of a hitman. The arrest of Sara’s father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, is also linked to the fallout with the President. On Foreign Correspondent Natashya Gutierrez reports on how this feud has escalated so dramatically. With the two clans at odds she travels to the family fiefdoms in Ilocos Norte and Davao City to see how deeply rooted and damaging these political dynasties are to the country. 0:00 The Marcos Duterte Fued 2:55 Sara Duterte Impeachment 5:31 Ilocos Norte, Marcos land 8:13 Vice Gov Cecilia Araneta Marcos 9:31 Infamous history of Marcos family 11:20 Crisanto Palabay, victim of Marcos Martial law 13:53 Davao, Duterte land 16:20 Eleanor Duterte, Sister of Rodrigo Duterte 19:02 Why a Marcos Duterte Alliance? 20:19 Why is there a feud now? 20:43 Rodrigo Dutertes Drug War Allegations ICC Arrest 22:09 Neri Colmenares, Petitioning the ICC to investigate 23:47 Leila M de Lima, falsely charged to be silenced 26:28 Neri and families of Drug War victims 28:19 The future of the Philippines Subscribe: https://ab.co/3yqPOZ5 About Foreign Correspondent: Foreign Correspondent is the prime-time international public affairs program on Australia's national broadcaster, ABC-TV.
