Released December 5, 2025 ZIP, Jakarta-Based Hardcore Punk Group, Debut Album Model Citizen. On Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, ZIP officially announced the start of their collaboration with Singapore-based record label 4490 to release their debut album, Model Citizen. Before the full album drops across DSPs and in physical format, the new single “Koma” will be released on Friday, November 7th, 2025, in both lyric video and digital single formats. This will be followed by the “Hound” music video and a full album stream a month later, on December 5th, 2025. Formed during the pandemic era, ZIP previously released a self-titled 7” EP and cassette tape under Greedy Dust Records in June 2021. The band—consisting of Indra Yanuar Prabowo (guitar), Januar Kristianto (vocals), Aditya Indra (guitar), Bagas Wardhana (drums), and Reegi Regani (bass)—has performed at numerous gigs, festivals, and events both locally and internationally ever since. Model Citizen is a culmination of ZIP’s profound yet unapologetic love for hardcore, disdain for authority and abusive power, and a deeply personal expression of urban isolation. The album features 13 tracks—10 originals and 3 instrumentals—produced by three different producers: “Intro” by Torturewave, “Intermission” by Logic Lost, and “Outro” by RMP of Divisi62. Musically, this debut full-length draws inspiration from a heavy dose of USHC (particularly the Boston scene), DC, and NY, while also nodding to UK and Scandinavian influences. It’s raging hardcore punk rock rolled into one explosive record. Lyrically, the album serves as a grim reflection—and in some ways, a socio-political premonition—of what 2025 has brought so far, particularly within our collective consciousness as a struggling nation. “New leader, same institutional bullshit, the familiar pattern of the old imperialist guards, media propaganda, inner-city struggle, and isolation”—these are the elements fueling the record, as described by Januar Kristianto, the principal lyricist. While the record maintains a consistently anxious and angsty tone, certain moments still manage to evoke hints of unity and resilience. Aesthetically, ZIP collaborated with Magicrites, a Bali-based Yogyakarta native, to create a classic hardcore punk album cover featuring stark, bold, yet minimal coloring—capturing the visual urgency synonymous with the genre. The artwork mirrors the desperate yet defiant mood conveyed throughout the record: in your face—plain, simple, and direct.
