Visit my blog for more on Arabic: http://thearabicstudent.blogspot.com Arabic is known for being a difficult language. I really think that the most difficult thing about it is the pronunciation. It's the thing that keeps people from being understood by native speakers. Arabic just isn't a language that you can speak with a thick American accent and be understood. This isn't meant to discourage. I just want to bring it to the attention of anyone learning Arabic that they need to really focus on accent and try to make the distinctions between the similar letters (ق and ك as well as ح and ه to name a few).
