The goodbye trip for the Fortuner. I couldn’t think of a more fitting last trip then the Victorian High Country. Also my good mate Damo is about to pick up his new rig as well. So the perfect way to farewell the old work horses. The plan – over 4 days from the Hunter Valley NSW. Part 1 – McKillops Bridge. Snowy River National park. Part 3 – Deddick Track, Mt Joan Staircase & Jacksons Crossing. Snowy River National Park. Part 3 – Limestone Creek Track to Davies plain and Tom Groggin. Alpine National Park. Part 4 – Tom Groggin, Mt Pinnabar and Wheelers Creek Hut. Alpine National park. In part three we have just crossed the Iconic Snowy River and left the Snowy River NP. After refuelling in Buchan we headed back towards the NSW boarder and in to the Alpine National Park. Entering the Alpine National Park via Limestone Rd and headed straight towards Limestone Creek track. This track is an epic Victorian high country track full of massive climbs. Steep hanging from your seat belt decent and little creek crossings along the way. We were looking for a hut on this track but it didn’t exist. We chose to head down to Poplars Camp Ground right on the Vic NSW boarder and spend the night down on the Murray River. Leaving in the morning Via McCarthy’s Track, this was a great climb but not much else. This did lead us on to Davies Plain Track. Davis Plain Track is another iconic Vic High Country track. Not because it is hard but because of the scenery and of course the beautiful Davies Plain Hut and camping area. Nice and high we followed along the ridge line and eventually wound our way down to Tom Groggin where we crossed the mighty Murry River back into NSW. We were having a few air restriction issues with the Ranger so we headed into Jindabyne to sort them and jet more supplies. Be sure to check out all 4 videos in this Vlog series.
