Jump to 04:00 to skip the intro babble and explanation. Hit the “SHOW MORE” to see the video broken out in sections and times to make it easy to jump around and better compare the organs. As I mention in the intro, this video was mostly thrown together to let the viewer compare some moderately priced hardware options for having a passable Hammond B3 sound to gig with. For me the part that is most important and probably hardest to get sounding good is the Leslie rotary effect. BUT, as I mention in the video, I’m no B3 or Leslie rotary effect expert, so what I like most might not be the most authentic sounding. Times 00:00 - The normal intro dialogue 04:00 - The start of the comparison (there is no talking after this) 04:22 - Ferrofish B4000+ (with rhythm track) 06:08 - Ferrofish B4000+ (no rhythm track) 07:57 - Nord Electro Rack 2 (with rhythm track) 09:42 - Nord Electro Rack 2 (no rhythm track) 11:32 - Casio XW-P1 and Neo Ventilator II (with rhythm track) 13:17 - Casio XW-P1 and Neo Ventilator II (no rhythm track) The Bonus 15:08 - Sononics Revival Drawbar Organ/Synth And for any interested folks, there is also an updated VST version of the Revival, under the Audreio name (who I believe bought out the Sononics company). And what do I really think? Can only answer for what I like, not necessarily what’s more realistic, but... For best rotary effect of the three, I would have to go with the Neo Ventilator II For best sounding “organ sound”, the Nord Electro 2 just seems to have a clearer presence of the three, though the B4000+ probably sounded more realistic to my ears (with some tonewheel bleed, more adjustable percussion and click).
