Off to the Okavango Delta in 2022. #okavangodelta #okavango #selfdrive #okavango #botswana #watercrossing I love waking up in the bush making a coffee and sitting quietly with the camera and the 600mm lens to capture the animals visiting the camp while the day is still cool there is not too much movement around. These little vervet monkeys are clever opportunists, so you need to make sure your food is locked properly, I was a little to occupied with the camera and before I knew it this little guy helped himself to the box of rusks that I thought was safe on the table next to me… Even one of my friends had spent over 3 hours looking for he is car keys that was taken by these little curious hands on a trip a few years ago. I could spend hours watching these little guys play. But the sun was getting hot, and we had the whole day ahead of us and we had a migration to find. Voice overs. After packing up camp a quick shover and stocking the cooler boxes with plenty of water we were in the bakkies with the aircons on full blast. We had a very hot day ahead of us. being this hot was a good thing because it causes the animals to seek water in turn making the drinking holes teaming with life. Comparing to last year it seems the Zebra numbers in the migration heard has for sure gone up even the elephants and wildebeest and were much more. It was very evident that Botswana experienced a long and dry winter this year especially this region, the bush leading to the Boteti riverbank was very dry and had no grass even the trees hardly had any leaves to them. That’s why when you visit area you will quickly notice that most of the animals congregate in and around the Boteti River. Reaching the water’s edge, we spotted this couple who had suffered a flat tire and we decided to extend a helping hand in getting the tyre changed, it took us about ten minutes to change the tyre but its always nice to help and meet other fellow overlanders. The Days end was growing closer and closer as the animals were heading back up the riverbanks making way for the predators who usually move around and drink at night it was high time for us to also head back to the campsite for our last relaxing night in Khumaga because tomorrow there is a long day of driving ahead of us. Getting to the camp we did not want to spend too much time prepping and cooking a meal, so we decided to warm up a tin of Beef stew that was cooked in a delicious gravy produced and packed by Senn Foods made with 100 % pure Botswana beef the only thing we had to do was to warm it up and serve it with some pap. This was a huge convenience especially after not being in the mood for cooking Coming up on our next episode. We make our way to Xakanka and experience the most beautiful sunsets. Take an epic boat trip to experience the delta from a different perspective. We get greeted by a unexpected guest in our campsite and we finally have our first encounter this the king of the jungle or shall I say Okavango with two of he’s brothers.
