The powerful voice of Clara Thomas. Thomas was a member of the Bessie Griffin's "Gospel Pearls" before she joined the Clara Ward Singers in '68 or '69. She led several songs with the group like "Never A Man Spoke Like This", "Wade In The Water", & "We'll Soon Be Done" just to name a few. CLARA THOMAS, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. She started singing in her church choir at the age of 5 in Shreveport. At the age of 8, she started singing with three other girls in a quartet. Clara sang in church choirs and quartets until she moved to Los Angeles and joined a local Gospel group. In 1963 she joines "Bessie Griffin and The Gospel Pearls." They traveled in 35 states and Canada. She was interviewed by Miss Clara Ward and her mother Mrs. Gertrude Ward and was accepted as a member of the group. Her work is very much appreciated in the community of Gospel Music. This is a recording of her singing with Bessie Griffin’s GOSPEL PEARLS at the Bear in 1963. Any family or friends please reach out!
