Likes: -It is beautiful 😍 . This curriculum went through a face lift in recent years, and the final product is really so visually appealing. -It is open and go. When you have multiple kids in different forms, this may be your #1 priority while getting a quality education out of it. AGF definitely meets this criteria. It is open and go, Charlotte Mason based, and will provide a quality education -It is EASY! Julie has provided links and youtube playlists for almost anything you could need. No need for spending hours researching here, everything is at the clock of a button. -The book list! This will sound contradictory down below because it is also one of my dislikes. However, hear me out. The list is wonder, and it can be supplement with more. The list also has links to free versions of the books if she was able to find them at the time she put the lost together. She uses Beautiful Feet books in her curriculum, which are amazing! I love them so much that I am an affiliate. It is more Charlotte Mason inspired than actually how Charlotte Mason would schedule it. I didn't Cycle 4 in particular. For a form 1 student, those selections would not fit the bill. A Delectable Education has a great free chart you can print out for a rotation that sticks to the Charlotte Mason method. Penny Gardner also has a lovely lost of the highlights for the OT and NT in chronological order. A morning time rotation or loop is not something Charlotte Mason came up with. We sprinkle it out throughout our day so we can use different parts of our brain throughout the day. The poems for recitation really didn't do it for me. Not my cup of tea. The literature seems to be leveled down at times. I prefer a more challenging list of options with the option to scale back if desired. Cycle 4 in particular, I did not like the books. That may be because they are more modern selections, but that was the cycle that I least liked. The other ones had some very good selections that can be supplemented with more challening books if needed. -I forgot to mention in the video this last one. There is the possibility of arrears. However, this can happen when using any pre-made curriculum. This is not specific to AGF. I just don't like the idea of having to play catch up if we get stuck exploring something that really sparks our interests. At the end of the day, AGF was not for us. We used it for a couple of weeks, and just could not fall in love like I had hoped to. We are so happy going into week 5 with our decision. Whatever you choose, make sure it's right for YOUR family. Don't let all the beautiful Instagram posts and youtube videos put you in a box that doesn't work for you. A square peg will never fit in a round hole.
